Healios is a specialist online provider of mental health and neuro-developmental services. Our mission is to bring exceptional healthcare to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Through our purpose-built online clinical platform and self-management tools we deliver high quality clinical care for the NHS, schools and third sector organisations. How has Healios improved people’s mental health in the UK?
Healios combines evidence-based clinical techniques with technology, qualified clinicians and beautiful design to transform the delivery and experience of mental health and neurodevelopmental services for those in need as well as their families. The benefits of using Healios are summarised below:
Choice - our clinical services are delivered by qualified and experienced clinicians. Individuals and their families can choose appointment times to suit them, seven days a week, increasing access, choice and convenience, all from the comfort of home.
Scale and efficiency – Healios recruits qualified clinicians from across the UK, bringing national capacity to address the needs of local NHS services in a flexible way. Thereby reducing waiting times from months to days and lowering costs associated with staffing and infrastructure.
Collaboration – success is built on transparent working partnerships with the NHS, third sector, charities and other health agencies to create truly integrated care pathways. All our partnerships focus on the needs of people with mental health challenges and their families – bringing the family together to achieve better outcomes.
Ease of access – all clinical sessions are conducted via a web browser with no need to download additional applications, making it really easy to access care from any computer or smart device connected to the internet. This means, clients can speak with their clinician from the comfort of their own home, or at work, even on holiday! Convenient and easy to access.
What has been your greatest achievement to date?
Having started in 2013, Healios in partnership with the NHS has created a new experience for how children, young people and adults, along with their family, can now access an extensive range of mental health and neurodevelopmental services all from the comfort of home without wait. Making this a reality has had a profound impact on the lives of those in need – we’ve solved the challenges of bringing the family together to receive high quality services that fit into their lifestyle and circumstance, removing stress in accessing care. We are extremely proud to be a partner of the NHS and working together to design services that are fit for tomorrow’s society.
And were there any measurable outcomes that accompanied this achievement?
We have generated extensive evidence with our NHS commissioned projects to show our new models of care, creating entire digital clinical pathways across mental health and neurodevelopmental services, improve the lives of clients and their families. In addition our evidence also demonstrates high satisfaction rates and confirms clients and families really enjoy accessing services in this new way.
How many organisations/clients currently utilise the service/solution across the UK?
Healios currently works in partnership with over twenty NHS Trusts and CCGs offering a range of services across mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
Is there anything you would like to make delegates aware of ahead of the Mental Health 2019 conference on 26th September?
Our latest innovation is ThinkNinja a new app to empower children and young people to build resilience, manage their emotional health and to fulfil their potential. ThinkNinja educates and coaches the young person to develop coping skills to learn how to overcome exam stress, boost mood and reach goals. It helps also with skills to deal with symptoms of low mood and anxiety.
What really makes ThinkNinja unique are two clinical step up features, connecting the young person to live clinicians for extra help if needed all through the app. The first step-up is a live text chat feature that provides needs based clinical support quickly. If the young person has more complex needs, they can be offered the next step up which is video CBT-based clinical sessions all within the app. These step-up features provide highly scalable early intervention support into the home of young people for an entire CCG region in a cost-effective way.
