More than 200 organisations worldwide have implemented NextGate’s award-winning Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI) solution to aggregate, cleanse and harmonise medical records for measurable improvements in cost, safety, and efficiency, as well as a better experience for clinicians and their patients. Its flagship EMPI software is implemented in 9 countries, covering over 350 million unique identifiers in a multitude of health and social care settings. How has NextGate improved outcomes for the NHS and patients?
Globally, 8-12 percent of a hospital’s health records are duplicated throughout various systems and settings of care. This introduces serious patient safety and financial risks including medical errors, skewed analytics and reporting, administrative inefficiencies, and unnecessary duplication of tests and services. With increased accuracy in identifying the patient at the point of care, data quality and clinical decision support are enhanced, and patient experiences are improved.
What has been your greatest achievement to date? And were there any measurable outcomes that accompanied this achievement?
Our greatest achievements are spread across the globe, particularly where the NextGate’s marketing leading EMPI has been used in response to the global pandemic. For example, a national project with NHS Scotland has leveraged our technology to streamline and strengthen the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
In the US, our scalable capabilities have enabled one of our major laboratory clients to support the sudden increase in patients requiring COVID tests, when they were chosen by the US Dept of Health to provide screening facilities on short notice. The increase from 63 million identities to 130+ million was a crucial component of their pandemic response.
In Queensland Australia, our cloud-based Provider Registry has enabled the rapid identification of suitably qualified medical practitioners to be referred for specific specialties and treatments, within a certain radius to the patient and their Primary Care doctor, across the State.
How many organisations/clients currently utilise the service/solution across the UK?
Across the UK we currently have 12 plus Care record customers utilising the NextGate platforms. Almost all of these Care Records are county or ICS based, comprised of multiple NHS Trusts, CCGs, Primary Care organisations and now reach out into Social Care and third-party delivery NHS partners, such as pharmacies, voluntary/charity and blue light services.
In addition, our EMPI is embedded in several vendor applications, used by them to provide a way of ensuring patient identity accuracy into their workflows, whether it be a population health, pathology or radiology system.
Is there anything you would like to make delegates aware of ahead of the NHS Long Term Plan 2020 conference on 30th November?
To help customers worldwide grow at-scale, NextGate will be launching an all-in-one, integrated SaaS-based solution for identity and data management in healthcare. NextGate One’s comprehensive platform provides a single solution for heath data accuracy, accessibility and integrity, meaningful information exchange and care coordination, and identity proofing and verification. The combined power and scalability of NextGate One—which is fully-integrated with NextGate’s entire suite of products and services, as well as third-party applications—delivers unprecedented data quality and identity verification to meet all the requirements of today’s healthcare constituents, from clinical, financial and administrative operations to provider and consumer expectations.
Further, NextGate will be unveiling its new consumer-focused digital identity verification platform, OneDID, to establish real time patient identification with the secure exchange of verifiable digital health credentials. OneDID achieves 100% matching accuracy while enhancing the consumer experience by putting patients squarely in charge of their insurance cards, driver’s licenses and other verified health information, allowing them to skip the check-in process and expedite care delivery.
